On March 14, while students throughout the United States walked out of school, students from Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New Orleans participated in 17 minutes of prayer to honor the 17 victims who were killed by a gunman on Valentine’s Day at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, and as an outcry against gun violence.
The Catholic Foundation will host its First-Annual Swinging Fore Champions Golf Tournament benefiting the Champions of Catholic Education Fund on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Bayou Oaks at City Park’s South Golf Course. The morning will begin with a sunrise service Mass at 7AM. A shotgun start is scheduled for 8:15AM.

Seniors from the northshore gathered Feb. 26 at Our Lady of the Lake School in Mandeville for a day of retreat and formation. Students from the St. Paul’s School, St. Scholastica Academy, Pope John Paul II High School and Archbishop Hannan High were invited.
While some schools and students nationwide will participate in a walk-out against gun violence March 14, the Office of Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of New Orleans has taken a different, more faith-filled response.
