In a time when it is more common to read about Catholic schools closing their doors, St. Therese Academy is bucking the trend by opening its doors to new opportunities for children with exceptional needs and learning differences.
On August 7, Head of School Shannon Bland and Catholic Schools Superintendent Dr. RaeNell Houston hosted a special ribbon cutting ceremony to officially begin the first day of school at the Archdiocese of New Orleans' new school. School chaplain Fr. Mike Mitchell was on hand to bless the students and the building as the students and parents walked happily through the doors.
St. Therese Academy is a school for Exceptional learners to provide a Catholic education in an exclusive setting so all children can reach their God-given potential. The school's mission states, "Together we will teach children to model their lives after Jesus Christ, strive for academic excellence, and develop their personal and physical selves to become positive contributing members of the communities in which they live."
